Whatever happen to the days when a simple manicure was enough to make us smile, cuticles nicely cut back, and keep our nails clean? Life seemed to be easier when we had minimal options at the nail salons.
Acrylic nails, French Tipped nails, Mani Pedi, and I used to think that extra $5 scrub was already enough for options.

Now… We have tons of more options to choose from. Minx nails, Gel nails, shatter polish, crazy designs that easily adds extra weight on your nails from all the tiny accessories they glue on to them.

I guess you can narrow some of these options down by the type of statement you wish to make, how impatient you are (I’m beyond impatient), and how much you want to spend.

When I finally decide to make it to the nail salon, I make sure my Iphone is fully charged, my play list is up to date, and I my headphones are packed. I know I’m going to invest an hour to an hour and half to make sure my nails are fully dried before I leave. There is nothing worse than finally leaving the nails salon, and you ruin your freshly polished nail in the process of putting on your seatbelt. LOL! I hate it when that happens.

Once I discovered Gel Nails!!!! I was in heaven because I was always confident that my nails had to be fully dried before leaving, and I had two weeks of no chipping, and smudging.

OPI Axxium Ge Manicure better known as, “gel nails’ gets brushed onto your nails, and set under a UVlamp for about 10mins to harden. Once the gel has harden it dries with a finished polish.

This revolutionary idea of fabulous nails, will set you back about $28 bucks, and last up to 2 weeks.

Minx nails I have yet to try. However, from a bit of research I’ve done I happened to learn that they are actually a film made out of polish. This flexible film is delicately applied with pressure, and heat. They come in a huge variety of patterns, and colors. I’ve inserted a video onto this blog demonstrating how they are applied. The design they used in the video would be perfect for 4th of July.

This fun find for nails would set you back $40.00
Also, know to last 2 weeks.

Serena Williams, and Katty Perry teamed up in designing a new collection for OPI shatter polish.

Serena Williams shown in this picture to have the latest from OPI shatter polish. Now available at most nail salons. It’s a fun crackle effect that shows two colors on your nails. This would be a fun way to kick off summer, and matching them to your fun metallic swim suits.

We can always thank the Japanese for exercising their creative muscles in the nail art department. Funky, cool nail art is know to trace back all the way to the early 1990’s in Japan. Starting this fun trend with mini accessories glued on to each individual nail.

These fun nails are definitely available in the Los Angeles area. They are not cheap. Get ready to spend close to $100 if not more depending on the design you request. I will definitely save these nails for a special occasion.
