It’s ok to wear makeup.

As 2025 is coming to an end I feel like the no makeup, clean girl era is ending too.

For some time now and what I mean is that it has been a few years where wearing too much makeup just isn’t the thing.

Which is very hypocritical because cosmetics companies are constantly persuading us to buy their latest makeup product like a new concealer, a foundation, a loose powder, cream blushes, pressed powder brushes, bronzers and makeup brushes.

Long list I know but in reality the list is even longer and not to mention the skincare that needs to come along with it.

So why are we buying all these products and pretending like we aren’t wearing any makeup?

I seriously blame social media, everyone just looks so perfect and I want to be like them. But I have to constantly remind myself that everyone post their best self, best makeup and filter all while trying to make us believe that they are natural and not wearing any makeup.

We need to not compare ourselves with anyone we see on the Internet, we need to embrace our flaws, our mind and unique story.

As a former makeup artist that did special effects makeup, I think like this is really an art form. A little concealer here, brow shaping, contouring, blending, setting, highlighting and different lip combos.

All to appear like we are bare faced with a sun kissed finish.

This trend has often made me feel insecure because certain products makes my skin dry causing more texture to show like bigger pores, fine lines and even some hyperpigmentation that comes along as we tend to age.

For sure it’s a matter of trial and error but in the process we are causing a big dent in our wallets by trying out what works and what doesn’t then we put aside what doesn’t work making it a waste of money.

Times are tough for a lot of people, enough where wasting money on makeup just isn’t an option. It’s time to go back to the pile of cosmetics we’ve put on the back burner and make them work.

Sometimes it comes down to technique and skin prep for some products to work. If you’re not sure of how to use certain makeup or skincare you’ve already purchased or are thinking of buying, take a picture of your products and search it on google or YouTube, so that you can learn the different ways you can apply your makeup for your particular skin type.

I do really like to play with what I have and yes I’m guilty for falling into temptation and buy what I see is trending on social media leading me to over consumption but what can I do… We live in a day and age where we are constantly being sold the latest and greatest anything, lol.

However, I am making it a goal and maybe you can too that in 2026 we are going to use what we bought in 2025 and really do our research on anything we are tempted to buy in the future.

Thankfully, many top beauty influencers are bringing back super glam makeup which will encourage us to use all the eyeshadow palettes we bought and didn’t really use, all the blushes, contours, lashes, highlighters and whatever it is you may have.

So for 2026 allow your self to try out different looks and different techniques. Even when it comes to skincare you don’t need that much. Recently, I’ve made the transition to Korean skincare and let me tell you it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. It’s not expensive and very effective. The moisturizer I am currently using is 13 dollars and available on my TikTok shop. It’s super hydrating, not greasy and works well with makeup.
